Word of mouth is the best form of advertising there is and when you are hoping to make money as an affiliate, good reviews can be the difference between success and failure. This applies just as much to the companies that you are going to work with as well as the opinion people have of you and your website.

The best way to get a review is to ask, but realistically you will have to know and trust the person you are asking. Once that review on out there it is hard to remove. You may be able to take it down from your own site, but it may have been copied and passed around. There is also little you can do if it appears on a competitors’ site as it may be to their benefit to keep it up there.

When checking out reviews, check a wide range as you could get one that is not totally accurate. Someone may have a grudge and write a bad review that is not justified and in the same way, there could be one written by the friend of a network member running a poor site or selling poor quality products who is just trying to help their friend out.

There has been a survey in the past asking people how much research they carry out when purchasing online and many of them admit that they do take notice of reviews they read. You will be advised to do the same as getting involved with the wrong seller can set you back a great deal.

If you do see a bad review of either you or the company you are working with it will be recommended to comment on what has been written. If you know – and can prove –it is not true, then challenge it as that review could cost you business. If it is true and there have been problems, offer to help sort out the issue and even make a reasonable offer – compensation for poor service, a replacement and small free gift, that sort of thing. Even if it does not work here, you have shown that you can be approached and will help when there are problems.

Never underestimate the strength of reviews either good or bad, and make regular checks to see what is being written about you.
